If you care about the way natural light looks in your house, as opposed to artificial lighting, you might agree with our notion that skylights are the best way to light up your space. In our house, both of us have them in every room, with the exception of our big walk-in closet. The nice thing is that every single morning both of us wake up with the rising sun. Basically we do not need our ceiling lights until the evening, but even then both of us like candles & sizzling stand-up lamps. The only potential downside I could see with relying on skylights is that sometimes the mid-day sunshine can substantially heat up our house. For us, it is no big deal, but many turn on their a/c as soon as the temperature hits 76 degrees. In our particular case this is quite unnecessary. Our temperature control is usually set to 75 degrees, whether it is warm season or Wintertime. Sometimes both of us just turn the Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C plan off entirely & open up all the windows & doors. We think nature is the ultimate temperature control plan that God made for us, so why not take advantage of that divine heating & cooling system? Of course sometimes it gets a bit serious so then both of us let our Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C plan kick in. Even our dogs are not the largest fans of excessive artificial indoor air pollen levels manipulation. We can tell by their facial expressions. Usually when both of us turn on our oil furnace, they start to pant a little bit. I think it might be the hum of the machinery that makes them seem nervous.
